Written by Our postdoc, Dr. Sophia Schmitt, got a position at Carl Zeiss AG, microscope industry, and will start to work at the open innovation center at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. Sophia joined our group twice, first as a visiting student in 2014 and this time in 2019 as a postdoc. Unfortunately in both case for half a year. This time it was shorter than expected but she found this great job opportunity in her home country. We are happy to send her and her son back to Germany. Sophia worked quite hard on a brand new project and found a tail of big fish. We will definitely continue on this project! Congratulations, Sophia!! All of us wish your great new success in the new position!!
We organized a year-end party together with her farewell at ONIKAI, which is our long-term favorite Kyoto-Vegetable restaurant.
