In the first week of March 2021, we occasionally published three papers at the same time!! Congratulations, all members and collaborators involved.
On the 1st of March, the photo-patterning of porous gels of linked metal-organic polyhedra (MOPs) by acid triggered gelation with photoacid generators was published in J. Am. Chem. Soc. This research was initiated by our former visiting student, Li-Hao Liu, from the group of Prof. Chia-Her Lin (at that time) at Chung Yuan Christian University. He first developed acid based gelation process of MOPs by his careful experiments. Then another visiting student, Philipp Royla, from the group of Prof. Jan J. Weigand at Technical University of Dresden continued the research with photoacid generators and achieved patterning. After these findings, our Alex Legrand revisited the system with his expertise of dynamic light scattering and discovered the mechanism of assembling process. And, of course, all rheology related to this study was investigated thoroughly together with our long term collaborator, Prof. Kenji Urayama at Kyoto Institute of Technology. This is truly a beautiful collaboration among four different groups!! Congratulations all!!

On the same day of 1st of March, our Opinion article on mechanoresponsive porosity in metal-organic frameworks was published in Trends Chem. In this Opinion (similar to perspective type review article), we emphasized mechanical stress as a stimulus to change the porous properties of MOFs. Together with Javier Troyano and Alex Legrand, we discussed this topic since last April to make a proper story, in which readers can get interested. We love this final version of manuscript and hope you love it too. Congratulations, Javier and Alex.

On the 4th of March, our PhD student, Zaoming Wang, published his first first-author paper from the group in Chem. Asian J.!!! Zaoming tried to make porous hydrogels based on deprotonated hydroxyl functionalized MOPs. He developed two protocols to make hydrogels either by prior deporotonation of MOPs before gelation or post-synthetic deprotonation of MOPs after the gelation. He also found the effect of deprotonation on gelation kinetics and resulting mechanical properties. We are happy to publish this result in the special collection of MOF2020web.
