Dr. Manuel Tsotsalas, our former postdoc and currently the group leader at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), won the prestigious Young Investigator Research Fund from the Helmholtz Association!! Dr. Kenji Sumida, the former member of MC2 and currently working in the University of Adelaide, Australia, won the Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (ARC DECRA)!! The lab head, Prof. Susumu Kitagawa and Prof. Shuhei Furukawa attended the EuroMOF2015 conference in Potsdam and delivered the talks. It was a nice occasion to catch up with the former group members, Manuel, Sophia and Kira!!
The collaboration paper with the group of Prof. Fischer about the hierarchical MOF thin films on QCM is published in J. Mater. Chem. A! Dr. Kenji Sumida contributed a lot to the selective QCM study. Congratulations!!

The summer internship students, Yue, Kyohei and Kotaro, presented the summary of their 1.5 month researches and shared their experiences in the MC2 group. All of the talks were logically constructed and were presented very well!! We celebrated the birth of these young researchers!! We wish all these students to become great scientists!!
The former member of MC2, Dr. Manuel Tsotsalas, got married with Sabrina and organized the wedding party at Hamburg in the middle of August. The welcome party for Sofie was organized at a teppenyaki restaurant. The former visitor from Leuven, Ivo Stassen, was also visiting us to strengthen the JSPS-FWO collaboration project. We were quite happy to welcome friends, Kenji Yoshida, Hiroyasu Tabe and Prof. Hideki Hirori in the party!!
